Hello everyone! How was your weekend, any nice wins to report? A few nice bits and pieces here including a Playmobil set which I will squirrel away for my youngest at Christmas, a Dreamworks magazine from Sun Perks, a bottle of Headrin head lice treatment (not glamorous but practical all the same) and a cuddly owl toy from a Twitter comp! The Christmas cupboard has begun at least, and I am seeing lots of fab Christmas competitions already. Have you started comping for Christmas?
Autumn has certainly arrived here on the island and we have been enjoying some lovely weekend walks along the coastline, on the cliffs and through the woods. One thing we are never short of here on the Isle of Wight is beautiful scenery and wildlife! In particular as a family we are huge fans of squirrels, and red ones especially. In point of fact there are no grey squirrels here on the Island and it is an offence to introduce greys to the Island – it is a conservation habitat for red squirrels. Red squirrels are much more timid and difficult to spot than greys we have found, and like to play hide and seek when you try and take their photo in the woods.
Did you know there is even a National Red Squirrel Week? Well there is and it is this week: 28th September – 4th October 2015. Across the country people are being asked to get involved with projects set up to help our furry, nut-loving friends. Head over to The Red Squirrel Week page at the Wildlife Trust website and find out how you can get involved locally in conservation projects and activities.

Sadly no red squirrels here, my favourites are the goldfinches which cost me a fortune in sunflower hearts!
We have a young red fox
We have a young red fox sitting on our wall in our garden. We live in a small village and our house overlooks a field full of long winter corn.
My husband thinks that it has just left the den to explore, under cover of the long corn.
My daughter has been watching it from the window, and has loved every minute of it :D

living on the edge of a nature reserve we get all kinds coming to visit but my favorite are the buck deer and the owls
We do have squirrels in our
We do have squirrels in our garden, along with hedgehogs and an old fox regularly.
But, robins, are our favourite. They actually hop into our hall when the door is open.

We have a heron and have found it a couple of times delving in the pond thankfully our chickens are pretty alert and have been noisy so we saved the fish. We also have pheasants and a nasty fox that only a few months bag managed to remove four of our hens and leave us with a pile of feathers :(

We have a lovely little Hedgehog who visit's us-the children have named him Harry(very original haha) We also have a few squirrels who regularly visit-i know some people view them as vermin,but i love their little personalities.

I would love for badgers to visit our garden. They are such secretive animals it would be lovely if they felt confident enough to get close.

love all animals, living near thecoast its not very often you get to see beautiful deer in your backgarden a large fox and I mean large,hedgehogs a family of them, birds and babies in the trees around us even yes little squirrels run along the fence to get to the food and the odd newt in the frogpond too really lovely giveaway

we very occasionally get a woodpecker in our garden which is fab, as they look so majestic. I have just started teaching in a new school and we get red squirrels in the playground, I was all excited as I pointed it out to my class, who were non plussed as they say they see them all the time.

I am lucky enough to have badgers come into my garden.I put out peanuts for them which they love and have just rigged up a wildlife trail camera to get some footage of them.

We had a little visitor in
We had a little visitor in the house not so long ago. One of my cats had caught a Harvest Mouse and brought it into the house. He then proceeded to drop it so it escaped. It was in the house for about 4 days, until another one of my cats caught it overnight and left it on the carpet for me to find it in the morning!

My favourite visitor to the
My favourite visitor to the garden is all the different birds; only today we saw a woodpecker in a tree at the bottom of the garden. Also, love being out with our cats who love to play with a stick.
Last night on our night
Last night on our night vision camera one of our wild hedgehogs (who is blind in one eye), called Iris, came into the garden with her little baby. We have called her Pip. She is tiny and is very speedy. She is very cute. We have 3 homes for hedgehogs in our garden and given them special hedgehog food and water every night. We also have Ernie, Barney, Harley, Womble and Squidge visit and we record them getting up to mischief every night!
The Collared Doves, gentle &
The Collared Doves, gentle & friendly birds, they become very tame and they come to us immediately we go out with food for them.
Just love all the little sparrows that come everyday at the same time to eat the grubs and things of the garden wall.
