I've only been comping for about 8 months so far, but what a brilliant, absorbing, entertaining and thrilling hobby!
I won nothing for a few months but then recieved a record bag (wasn't sure where from...no letter!) through the post. That was my first prize and gave me some encouragement. The second came while we were having a break in York....I checked my emails on my phone to see that i had won something from Rombouts...but couldn't get the whole of the email on my phone....Rang my mother to get her to check my emails, and it was a break in Flanders ....accommodation and ferry crossings included! That was a great last night of our trip I can tell you!
Had the excitement of planning it all, and then stayed two nights in the Novotel in beautiful Ghent...Our first trip abroad for years!
Shortly after won two tickets to the I deal Home exhibition which made a good mothers day treat and day out. Next to come was my big one! Two nights in a luxury five star cottage on Loch Tay in Highland Perthshire, with £200 spending money, £100 towards travel and a posh meal on one night! Due to take this one in two weeks...can't wait. It's something I would never be able to do had I not won it...and it's lovely to treat family and friends.
Since then I won Global Gathering tickets and a 6 months premium spotify subscription. I had a very good week recently with a Liz Earle box set, £50 specs network voucher and an email telling me I'd won a "nutrilite and artistery" package from Top Sante (No further explanation) I couldn't recollect what this was, but arrived back from Global gathering to find box of vitamins, energy drinks and organic makeup...just what the doctor ordered. My latest, but not least, win was a hamper of cheese and chutneys, and my olympic recipe published on the website! And my partner and his sister are getting in on the act and have all won tickets to a local festival which we can all go to! I enter as many comps as I can...people are amazed by all my wins, but as the saying goes, you have to be in it to win it! Keep comping!
My husband and I have just had the most amazing time after I was lucky enough to win a twitter competition with the National Lottery to go and see the mens 100m final at the Olympic games.
They took care of everything from start to finish including travel and accommodation. We were treated like royalty all day and just couldn't believe that we were there. It's one day we are going to remember for ever.
After getting the train down to our hotel in London we were greeted with champagne and nibbles and then taken to the Olympic park where we were taken the the hospitality suite.
We were treated there with more drinks and food while we watched Andy Murray win gold.
The highlight was being track side while Usain Bolt won his gold medal. It was an amazing day and one I know can't be repeated
I was lucky enough to win the amazing prize of having a professional chef come to my home and cook for us for a whole week from a Facebook competition run by The National Lottery. We had 3 meals a day cooked by the amazing Fay and I also had a dinner party one of the evenings with some of my girl friends, she even brought a case of champagne for us as part of the prize. By the time the week was through I was stuffed, we'd eaten fillet steak, roast lamb, Chinese crispy duck, cakes, souffle, fish and so much more. It was an amazing week and one that would never have happened to me if I hadn't won this prize. I can't begin to imagine how much it was worth.
I entered this competition on the Absolute Radio website (via The Prizefinder) and on 18th June 2012 I received call advising me that I had won:
• 2 nights stay in London Wimbledon Morden Hotel on Sunday 24th and Monday 25th June
• 2 tickets to Court 1 at Wimbledon Monday 25th June
• £500 spending money
I went with an old school friend who is a massive tennis fan and was thrilled to be invited. It was only once we got there that we realised we had 'Debenture' tickets but we weren't sure what that meant. We were delighted to find we had great seats and access to a special debenture holders only lounge, bar and restaurants. It was a fantastic day, amazing weather and we got to see Roger Federer's first match of the 2012 tournament setting him on his road to victory. It was a fantastic start to the sporting summer of 2012!
The first day I registered with ThePrizeFinder, I was apprehensive about ever winning, but I thought I had to give it a go. I entered a competition with the Independent newspaper and to my amazement, within 24 hours (yes, really!) I had won 2 weekend camping festival tickets with a face value of £350!! I was completely gobsmacked and even more so when the tickets arrived a few days later. I haven't won anything else in the last couple of weeks, but I am definitely going to keep up with entering comps. I think I'm still recovering from the shock!
I was searching through the various competitions on offer when I came across one hosted by BiC. It was one with a chance to win a holiday for a month to either South Africa, South America, South East Asia and Australia.
I applied for this, promoted a little to get some votes and eventually won the trip to South Africa!
The prize was absolutely amazing. A free laptop, a free camera, £810 spending money and an all expenses paid trip to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia.
They booked me onto a safari tour and I went overland through the countries stated above. Participating in game drives, sight seeing, cultural experiences. It was the best time of my life and all because I spent a few hours looking through competitions, entering and promoting for votes.
I will carry on entering competitions as before I believed I would never win anything. I realised however, you cannot win if you do not enter.
I was very lucky that my `Ice is Nice` great little idea won a party bus for the day worth £5,000!. The original winner was unable to take the prize so my idea was chosen next. They were simple red white and blue layered fruit and ice cream dishes using one of the required ingredients. I used mini rolls sliced small as toppings. I won with the `Great Little Ideas` company and they still have another prize to win in August.
The bus arrived at 12.30 and had the address on the front which was great. They had all day games, food, photographer and the staff were brilliant. Friends, family and neighbours couldn`t believe I had won a party bus for the day. The top of the bus had tables and parasols, the bottom had half for a kitchen were wonders like cream teas kept appearing and half had benches for the kids. Outside an awning with more tables and chairs set underneath gave a great view of the children playing their games and winning prizes. A truly fantastic day and something to remeber as we are being given a video and disc of photos from the day. I was also given a lovely blue oven proof dish for being the winner.
Since then I have also won tickets online to the Barclaycard Festival in Hyde Park. My neices were delighted and said the concert was amazing. I am now looking forward to my VIP Olympic Overnight stay won through `Roar for GB` which Di Shared on FB and it was listed in Compers News.
Prizefinder is the first place I look for comps and two of my best prizes this year have been from recipe comps. I had never even tried a recipe comp until December although I have been comping for many years.
Try lots of different types of comps and you never know what prize will turn up at your door next.
I've been trying to win competitions for about a year on and off. I only won a Jedwood lunch box and a tiny bottle of perfume, until today. I came home to a huge box of beauty goodies from Conde Nast, but not sure which magazine. No letter! Also on the same day I got sun cream from Mumsnet.
So you can win, just keep entering those competitions.
