  • First Week and I WON!!!

On Friday evening I decided I wanted to start entering more competitions. On Saturday after some research I found Theprizefinder.com. I wasn’t sure at first if it was going to be a pointless task, but I thought, I’ll give it a go for a couple of weeks to see how I go.

I started entering the odd competition and then read the blog for inspiration. I thought, WOW!! I wonder if I could win some nice prizes along the way. I had read the tips for entering and thought, I can do this. So, I sat down to watch the soaps on TV with my laptop and on my merry way I went to the land of competitions. I started entering competitions that were closing soon, as I thought it was better to look at them first. The more I entered the quicker I was getting at it. I came home Monday from work, wondering if I would maybe have an email saying I won something, but no such luck. Same Story on Tuesday, but I just told myself it’s early days yet.

Today (Wednesday) I have come home from work, logged onto Facebook to find out I have WON my first Compton through The Range Facebook Page. A Pizza Oven worth £79.99!!!

Totally Shocked, but over the moon!!!! Lets hope this is the first of many more wins to come.

  • More daily entry prizes

I don't always have time to do many comps but, as Kirsty recommends in her blog, I try to enter as many of the daily entry ones as I can. In the first six months of this year that has resulted in at least one prize a month and often several. This month has been no exception. The Nintendo DS through the Heatworld daily entry comps turned up first and then the lovely robin picture from a comp run by Your Source. The Blu-ray bundle came courtesy of Empire daily entries and I heard only a day or so ago I have won a book from the Yours daily entry comps.

I think every member of my family has now had a little extra something as a result of my wins and many have been shared by all the family. At least when the postman knocks or a courier calls you know it cannot all be bills and it is good to have the exitement of unpacking goodies when it isn't Christmas or a birthday.

  • Visa hospitality- Formula E

I won the Visa/WHSmith comp to win a trip to Paris to see the Formula E racing. The prize included two nights stay, Eurostar tickets, race tickets, VIP hospitality, and a £500 pre loaded Visa card. Anyway, about 2 months before we were due to go to Paris, the Paris attacks happened. I had a phone call from Visa asking if they could change my prize to Berlin as they could guarantee the VIP hospitality and it would be safer. As we had never been to Berlin, we said yes. Anyway, I then get another phone call saying to express their thanks at me changing to Berlin, they will give me 200 Euros on a Visa card! Anyway, we went to Berlin, were picked up by a chauffeur driven limosine and taken to the Radisson Bleu hotel in the Mitte district right next to the river. It had a 25 meter aquarium in the lobby! It was a fab 5 star hotel and breakfast was included. When we got there we had a goody bag containing umbrellas and phone chargers, and 2 envelopes- one containing £500 card and the other containing 500 Euros card!! Anyway, we had a fabulous time at Formula E- had a VIP hospitality box with free food and booze all day. Brilliant time!

  • Happy Birthday your Majesty

I have been entering competitions with The Prizefinder for 4 years and won many prizes worth thousands of £'s. I got my husband interested in comping and since he took early retirement he has found a really great hobby to fill in his spare time. He has been very lucky winning many valuable prizes but he loves to enter competitions with hampers as the prize. He recently entered a hamper competition with Delicious magazine to win a Queens Patron hamper and was lucky enough to win. What he did not know was that there was not just one hamper as the prize, there was 5 of them and also two large cases packed with goodies from Marks and Spencers. The hampers were packed with, smoked salmon, cooked ham, pork pies, salmon mousse, boxes of cakes, fruit drinks, packs of handmade crisps and even bottles of Champagne and Prosecco. We shared the hampers with our neighbours and family as there was far to much for us and we certainly celebrated Her Majesty The Queens Birthday and toasted to her all of our best wishes with the Champagne.

We found a Buxton Water competition on your page where you had to tweet them with a Mexican wave! My husband wasn't very willing but gave it a go anyway! About a week later he had a tweet saying he had won 2 15,000ft Sky dives! (There were other prizes too) however after sky diving in NZ we weren't too keen to do it again! Thankfully they were happy to oblige and offered us a stay in Chewton Glen instead - an incredibly posh hotel. We have not encountered service like it before, we had a spa treatment, enjoyed the pools and the breakfast was divine! I love this hobby :)
