  • A day at Waitrose cookery school

    Posted by Ahharashley

    Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Last Easter, Waitrose ran a competition to win a cookery day at the Waitrose cookery school for two. The prize included £200 of travelling expenses. My son and I travelled to London the night before and stayed over so that we could have an early start. We had a really wonderful time. We cooked a 3 course lunch for ourselves and in the afternoon we also had a cooking demonstration in the Lecture theatre. We had a fantastic day out and we learnt a lot about food and cooking that day.
Waitrose also made a video on that day. So we were followed around by the by a couple of videographers and an interviewer. It was all great fun. If there is another competition at Waitrose cooking school this year, I hope to win it again.

  • Winning my dream scarf on Instagram

In December I've tried out new ways of comping such as Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. I couldn't believe when I've noticed a comment from Farfetch that I've won in their Christmas wrapping photo competition. I had to upload a pic, showing my prezzie wrapping skills. I was very proud of a nice little package and this photo won the their prize of $250 credit on the website. I was so glad and happy and though choosing was not easy, I've decided to get this stylish scarf from Alexander McQueen that I've wanted forever but could never afford. The scarf has arrived today and turned a dull rainy day into bright happy Monday!

  • Christmas and New Year Wins

    Monday, January 14, 2013

I only starting comping just before Christmas 2012. I won a couple of small items like 3 Weird Fish caps, Hotel Chocolat reindeer lolly, Copella Emma Bridgwater mug, Dairymilk bar and then first thing in the New Year I found out I'd won a Le Creuset roasting set! I am hooked on comping now and will definitely carry on. Thank you Prize Finder for making it so easy!

I've been comping since July 2012 and haven't won all that much. When I first started I won a lush gift set and a children's book then nothing until some Pringle speakers in December! it was so hard to keep at it but when I felt my mojo slip, I read the latest winners section and thought if they can do it so can I, then just after Christmas I received a email to say I had won a iPad mini! Then a photography book turned up along with a Cbeebies CD for my son :D

It just goes to show that if you keep it up it pays off! And if i feel my mojo slipping again ill just keep reading the winners section!

  • A few treats to start the New Year!

I've been comping for about a year so I guess it's a staple hobby now! I love winning all kinds of things. I get a great thrill out of winning small things I really like too, not just the big wins. So far this month I've won a bottle of Copella juice via Facebook, four packets of Dizolve washing sheets for a creative competition that involved making a sock puppet, a pair of Butterfly twists which are super comfy, I'm so pleased with them and my latest win is a piece of Liora jewellery from a tip I submitted via Facebook. Certainly pleased with my lot so far, not a bad start to the year :)

  • Super New Year Surprise

    Friday, January 11, 2013

I started comping during the advents in Dec 2011 and had quite a successful 2012 - winning a family holiday in the UK, the Kit Kat challenge and a £500 beauty box been the biggest! But like many compers I often lose a bit of mojo. I diligently check my spam and inbox, and this is where I usually find my wins, with the odd little surprise landing on the doorstep.

Imagine my shock today at opening a letter (that looked like it was from my kids school) to discover I've won a fantastic Eurocamp Holiday for 2 adults & 4 kids up to the total of £1400 – including travel costs. Hubby thought I was a maniac dancing around the front room in my PJ’s.

Keep at it, even when your mojo slips! Wishing you all lots of lucky dust and nice wins for 2013, mine definitely started off fantastically.

And huge thanks to Di and Steve for the fantastic work they do on site!

  • A New Comper's Journey

    Friday, January 11, 2013

I started comping Mid October 2012 with some scepticism. Yes I had read all the stories about the amazing prizes compers had won but something inside me said it was just too good to be true or that the people that won lots of big prizes must spend all day doing competitions.

I pushed those thoughts aside and decided I would give it a month's trial. If by the end of month I'd not won anything I would stop. As I'm quite creative I decided to enter mainly creative competitions, topped up with the non skill based ones for things I really wanted.

Within a week I won £100 worth of Pretty Polly Tights for posting a picture of my worst socks.
Then the prizes started coming - I had quite big prizes like 2 season tickets to Cheltenham Races, luxury hampers, gift experience tickets, gig tickets. I've also had loads of little prizes too - books, belts, cds, gift sets.
My most recent prize and first of this January was a year's subscription to PlayStation Magazine. As we are a house of gamers it was a great prize to win.
So I am happy to say I was TOTALLY and COMPLETELY wrong about comping. It is genuine and people do win, I'm proof of that. I love my new hobby and hope to continue for many years to come.

  • 11 months of comping

    Thursday, January 10, 2013

I've been entering competitions since I found out I was expecting a baby back in February 2012. I started with baby sites then I entered everything! In my 11 months of entering competitions I've won a Joolz changing bag, a ProtectiShade buggy cover, a Nuby no-spill beaker, an e-book of Indian SuperMeals Baby & Toddler cookbook and my latest win was yesterday; a Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends Great Quarry Climb playset! I look forward to what 2013 holds for me!

  • What a start to the year

I have been entering competitions for several years and won the odd prize or two but nothing worth shouting about, but so far January has been beyond my expectations! It started with winning a Budweiser pint glass from a competition on Budweiser's Facebook page. Then I won £100 of B&Q vouchers from Womans magazine and today I received an e-mail from Mastercard saying that I had won a bespoke weekend in London! It just shows that you have to be in it to win it!

  • Crisps Galore!

    Thursday, January 10, 2013

I've been entering competitions for nearly year and have had some really nice prizes. I enter the instant win dailies most days and didn't give up when I kept having the 'Sorry' page. But, one Sunday morning I entered the Tyrrells daily, where the man picks items from the ground. On the third attempt he picked out a pink crisp packet which meant I'd won a box full of crisps. When it arrived it had 4 large bags, 6 single size and 3 packets of snacks in various flavours. They were all lovely!
