  • My Wins This Month!

I've had a great month! First off, I won a camera and a book from Random House, and to make matters better, I won it with a treasured photo I took of my husband and my son! Next up - A personalised mat from Make an Entrance.... I agonised long and hard over the personalised message - but here it is! It's one which makes sense to us as a family, and makes us giggle everytime we cross the door! Next up - and I haven't collected yet, but I won a Mother's Day Prize; Bed and Breakfast at Malmaison in Edinburgh, Cut and Colour at Hair Salon, in Ocean Terminal, £50 Ortak Voucher, Bear from Build a Bear, Meal for Four at the Hand Made Burger Company, and a £30 Greggs voucher! My friend says that she can buy 47 Apple Danish for that! She's claimed it already. Brilliant Month! Thank you Prize Finder!

  • Comping Can Lead to So Much More Than Just Winning!!

I've been comping since November - in my first month I won a sofa from SCS!!! How's that for a start? Most of the bits and pieces I've won since have mainly been skill and tiebreaker competitions.

I've won some bubbles n truffles for Valentines day on Twitter for telling my worst date story, £200 in a Pinterest design competition, £60 for giving my opinion about internet dating for Take a Break Magazine.

I was also one of the finalists to win a £15000 wedding in Rhodes. I had to write about how I met my fiance and they loved my story so much they told me I had a very good chance of winning it. I hadn't, however, read the small print, which required the wedding to be filmed for Wedding TV. This wasn't really for me so I decided to bow out. Alas it wasn't mean't to be.

I love comping and enjoy the various challenges some competitions throw at you. It has also given me the confidence to realise that I could possibly use my writing skills to actually make a living.

Recently a woman's on-line Magazine called Bright Shiny News held a competition on Twitter & through them I found out they were looking for contributers. I have now had my first piece of writing published on-line and it's one of my proudest moments. Even though the work is unpaid - I can now build up a portfolio of work and hopefully get paid work in the future, which would be an absolute dream come true.

So not only have I found a fun new hobby but through it I've found a possible new career too and cheesey as it sounds I have The Prizefinder site to thank for that.

  • My Artistic Side Has Been Awakened Again!

    Thursday, March 22, 2012

I started comping in October last year after a friend of mine suggested it in work. I was dubious at first because I always thought "I'll never win, what's the point". For a month I entered every competition I could get my hands on, mainly prize draws, and unfortunatley, I had no wins at all. I began to get very disheartened, until I found the Superlucky page on Facebook. Suddenly I found a whole side of comping where my artistic streak could be utilised. I've studied fine art at college, but when I left to get a "proper job" I practically laid my skills to rest, until now!

I am now completely excited and motivated by the prospect of having little projects to think about and create, and the chance I'd win something at the end of it! I now don't go anywhere without my little sketch book, where I'm constantly jotting pictures/poems and ideas down when they come to me, which will be useful to current competitions, or even ones which may crop up in the future.

Comping has awakened my artistic side and has been a complete inspiration to me! I get a thrill from creating work for each comp and of course when I win...well thats a huge added bonus!!

These are the prizes I have won since November last year

4 night 4* hotel break to Florence
    100 pound shopping voucher
    50 pounds Halfords voucher
80 pounds Malki Dead Sea products
80 pounds Neal and Wolf hair products
    100 pounds sainsburys vouchers
100 pound voucher for Crabtree and Evelyn
    Mug and stationary set
    Pantene products hamper
    Hillier necklace
    Swarovski crystal necklace
Visual memo "play" from the conran shop
    Hand made cushion
    DVD
    T-shirt and watch
    Vouchers for local shopping centre
    48 bottles of Bulmer's Cider
    Bottle of champagne

Most of these gifts will go towards birthday and christmas presents - which has helped us out with out finances this year!

I have been comping for years but only now getting to grips with Facebook and Twitter comps. SuperluckyDi makes it very easy to enter FB comps as she posts loads on there.
My wins this month from FB have been Hotel Chocolate prizes x 3 from their recent comp and a bag from the Shoezone comp.
From Twitter I won a Family Ticket on Thames River Clipper from their Mothers Day comp. It allows travel from 9am to 9pm and you can hop on an off all day. Great will enjoy that.
I also won two tickets to Andrew Loyyd Webber film `Love Never Dies` and Andrew done the introduction to the film himself.
I really enjoy my comping hobby and my daughter said today it makes me more interesting. Now I don`t know if I should take that as a compliment or not!

I am now on my 3rd baby, and anyone who has a family know how expensive it can be. Baby equipment is dear and there is little money for luxuries.

I have won numerous things including a lovely watch for both me and husband, beauty products and baby equipment. As well as saving a fortune on birthday and christmas pressies! I would never be able to afford to could justify spending the money on.

Competitions give me a boost, with fellow comping friends chatting and sharing win stories.

I have used a pic of shoes I bought win a £50 shoe voucher, a girls dream prize!

What hobby gives you so much in return?

I love colouring and always put lots of glitter on after, especially pink! I have won bubble bath, bath toys, DVDs and chocolate. Sometimes I don't win but it's still fun!" She's even planning to run a colouring competition for her friends to help raise money for charity!

I have a very active and creative five year old. His winning list is quite impressive. I search ThePrizeFinder and Super Lucky for creative items and competitions that I can use as an activity for him. I don't normally tell him it's a competition, just an activity, so it doesn't get his hopes up. His face is a little picture when he's gets a parcel with his name on when he wins though.

Here is he's list so far.
    Massive Cars Lego
Hope & greenwood big box of sweets
    Sudcreme Moose
Yummy mummy bag ( happy face)
    Mix and match books
    £25 worth of Funmats items
    6 Cake bombs
    Spooky buddies dvd box set
    Little dish goodies

His latest one is a Tumtum egg holder and chocolates, which he had to colour in. He added bunny friends as he was a bit concerned Mr Bunny may have got lonely! Which I found on the ThePrizeFinder page! I'm so proud of him :0)

I started comping last March and since then I've won an assortment of stuff from various sites. Some of my biggest wins so far have been: Just So Festival whole weekend family tickets, a Merlin annual family pass, a pair of mens Timberland boots rrp:£120, a family pass to the amazing World of Peppa Pig and 2nd prize of £300 to spend at the Menswear site.
As well of these I have also won loads of smaller wins - way too many to list. I love comping - it's a great hobby and I have also made lots of lovely new comper friends along the way. Here's hoping this year will continue to be as fruitful. So far in 2012 I have had 40 wins :)

  • Seeing the world one comp at a time!

    Tuesday, March 20, 2012

I started comping in June last year, and after a few months of flailing around entering whatever I could get my hands on, I'm now a bit more selective with what I enter - and my first stop to find creative and fun competitions is always theprizefinder's 'Skill-based' section, and SuperLuckyDi's blog!

Over the last few months I've seen my biggest and most exciting wins. In February, I flew off to Arctic Finland courtesy of Windows Phone UK with my boyfriend Andrew to stay in a hotel made of snow, drive a husky sleigh and drink icy cold vodka in an ice bar (see the picture! Brr!); on top of that, I just found out that I won the Lotto facebook competition for an all-expenses-paid trip to New York!

I turn 21 this year so I’m really excited to celebrate in style with business class flights, 4 nights in Soho, NY (the travel agent was flexible, so we managed to get another night into the budget by opting for a boutique hotel!), a makeover at Bloomingdales and £1000 spending money. I can’t wait to see where else in the world my new favourite hobby can take me (Andrew has been pushing for Barbados next!).
