Pinning to WIN!

Hello everyone!  Well, we have had some nice weather recently, been outside a bit more and have maybe all had slightly less time for comping than we do when the weather is dull and grey and uninviting.  This does also mean usually that our success rate in winning comps goes down too, so what do we do?  Well, one way to try and increase the odds of winning comps, is to go in for those competitions that require a little more effort, and usually have a lower entry rate.  Traditionally, this has meant entering photo based and slogan writing competitions, which aren’t everyone’s forte.  However, with the creation of Pinterest comes a whole new way to enter competitions that, although they require a little more effort, aren’t beyond the reach of most normal compers, providing they have a Pinterest account.  Here at The Prizefinder we even split out those competitions that require a Pinterest entry for you!  On the front page, to the left hand side you will see our Social media competitions menu.  The Pinterest comps are held within the “Other” category, so why not head across and see what comps are on offer at the moment.

Entry methods for Pinterest comps can vary – they can be as simple as just “Repinning” (clicking the little red “Repin” button on the picture) one competition picture and adding it to your own board (I have a “Competition” board setup ready for such comps), or it could be a bit more time consuming.  Lots of Pinterest comps revolve around a theme – your perfect wedding, Easter baking, Christmas crafts etc – and the majority require you to setup a board.  This is very easy to do, from you own profile page you simply create a new board with the required name and add some details about its nature.  The competition entry instructions will then usually tell you how many pins you need to add to this board on a certain theme, and how many, if any, need to come from a specified source.  You will sometimes need to comment on the pins you repin too, using a specific hashtag to identify your entry into the comp.  Once you have spent some time creating your lovely board, you will usually need to reply to the promoter somewhere, on twitter, Facebook or via email maybe and use a specific hashtag to identify that you are entering the comp.  Winners are generally contacted by email or direct via Pinterest if they win.  As with most things, all Pinterest comps vary so do read all the instructions carefully when entering them.

So that’s all there is to it, it can take a little time to get used to entering comps on Pinterest, but they are still a relatively untapped comping resource, so you often have a better chance of winning something nice.

Don’t forget to follow the Prizefinder on Pinterest too, to keep up to date with all the latest comping advice and comp listings, and head over over to our “Other” social media category to find lots of fab Pinterest comps.  To keep you going until then, here is a run-down of some fab ones open for entries now:
