Facebook Check-in Competitions have been few and far between but the latest Samsung promotion is encouraging Angry Birds fans to visit their local Samsung retailer and be in with a chance of winning giant TVs, an Audio Dock or hundreds of Angry Birds soft toys by collecting 'tiles'.

To take part in the Samsung Check-in Challenge, you need to collect tiles via their Facebook App at www.facebook.com/SamsungTV/app_316178028479612. They've already given you three to start with, and you can earn up to 100 in total by doing various things. For every tile you gain, you have an extra chance to win one of 495 'instant win' prizes (Angry Birds plush toy) and a chance to get bonus entries in the 'sweepstakes' to win a 55" television, 46" television or a Samsung Audio Dock. You flip your tiles over to reveal Golden Eggs (extra prize draw entries) an Instant Win prize, or a 'Try again' (see screenshot below).

The contest is open to the US and Canada as well as the UK, and the participating stores over here are Dixons, John Lewis, DSGi, JLP, Comet and Currys. To check in, you will need to be using Facebook on your Smartphone and have your Location Services enabled. If you're using the Facebook App, you should see 'Check In' at the top of your screen - click this and it will give you all nearby locations. You can also search directly for the stores. You don't actually need to be in the store - often you can be a few hundred metres away and still be able to check in! Choose the store and then click 'Check In' to automatically get five tiles - leave a comment to get 10 tiles and post a photo of you playing Angry Birds on a Samsung TV in store to earn 15 tiles. You can earn up to 15 tiles a week until the competition ends on 17 November 2012 - and a maximum of 100 over the duration of the competition.

You can also get a bonus tile for each friend you invite via Facebook who goes on to register and play the game. It might sound a bit complicated but we always like to see brands trying new ways of making their promotions fun, so we hope you give it a go - good luck!
