Share Your January Wins

Hello everyone!  A very Happy New Year to you all! Here we are in 2015, how did that happen?  I hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year with friends and family, did you get any comping in?  I resigned myself to just squeezing a few comps in here and there where I could over the festive season, and certainly didn’t have any wins!  How about you, did you have any wins between Christmas and New Year?

December on the whole for me wasn’t too bad – I won 19 prizes in total, all of which before 19th December so averaged one a day up until that point!  How did you do with the advents?  11 of my wins were from advent competitions – here is a run-down of some of my favourite wins in December:

• A Kindle Fire HD 6 tablet, from a Facebook Like & Share comp
• 4 lots of choccies from the M&S Pass the Parcel advent
• A PL-UG den building kid, from a web advent comp
• A Shout board game, from a source known
• A Cineworld cinema ticket, from a Twitter comp
• A Tinkerbell dress and 2 DVDs, from a Twitter party
• 2 prizes in my local high street advent competition, a £10 coffee shop voucher and a cuddly penguin
• A Pictureka game, from a Facebook comp

My fave prize won in December has to be the Kindle Fire HD 6 tablet - couldn’t quite believe it when I saw there had been over 20,000 entries worldwide for this comp.  Just goes to show that you do have to be in it to win it, no matter how many entries there are.  The Shout game from the arrived as a surprise with no warning and no letter of where it was from.  I entered so many comps for this particular game that I don’t think I shall ever know where it came from.

Enough about me anyway, let’s see how all our lovely members got on during December:

Lucyc58 kicked off her December with a winning email from Jordan’s letting her know she had won a hamper of cereal, and went on to win prizes including Funkin Cocktails mixers on their advent and £200 to spend at Larizia.  On the food and drink theme pwilson44  won some Tyrrells crisps and snacks on their instant win game (we won on that in October and are still working our way through all the yummy treats!), and Hamish666 won a coffee set from Closer magazine.  Gorts17 had some nice wins this month of a Muppets DVD and a Leapband, and JohnNaylor secured some fab prizes too of some books in the Headline advent and an Xbox One game, a Lego keychain and a memory stick in the Top Gear Advent.  Babyhinder had a lovely win from Period Ideas magazine – A Little Bird Told Me Tennyson rocking horse – delightful!  Eilmcc78 had been comping for just 10 days when they had their first win of mascara in a Twitter comp, swiftly followed by a win from Links of London also on Twitter – well done!  Xxme2uxx had her usual lovely flurry of wins in December including a pair of £500 shoes, a set of Peter Rabbit books, some Pretty Polly stocking, a bottle of Grants Whisky and a remote control helicopter!

The lovely thing about the advents is that we get the opportunity to win lots of fabulous prizes that we don’t normally have access to.  This is most notable in competitions such as the Charlotte Olympia advent – who here has the opportunity to own shoes valued at £300-£500 a pair in a normal day?  I saw a few of our members win on this advent, and these were some really lovely prizes.  I think my top prize for the month has to go to xxme2uxx who bagged herself over £800 of gadgets and goodies in the Macworld/PC Advisor/Tech Advisor comp – a huge well done!

Well, now the advents are all over for the year, we can all settle back into our normal comping routines.  Those of you who have been comping for a while will know that we are heading into the quietest period of the year for comps now, until things pick back up again in the spring.  This is a good time to take stock of our comping, the ways we go about it, the things we would like to win, and how we would like to change the way we comp going forward.  Have a good look through your prize list for 2014 and feel proud of what you have accomplished.  In 2015 I would really like to win a holiday for the family, or a break away in London for all of us or just me and the hubby.  I would also like to win my first Pinterest competition, so shall be focusing more on these over the coming months.  How about you, what would you like to win in 2015, and what comping resolutions will you be making?
