Hello everyone! How was your weekend, any nice wins to report? A few nice bits and pieces here including a Playmobil set which I will squirrel away for my youngest at Christmas, a Dreamworks magazine from Sun Perks, a bottle of Headrin head lice treatment (not glamorous but practical all the same) and a cuddly owl toy from a Twitter comp! The Christmas cupboard has begun at least, and I am seeing lots of fab Christmas competitions already. Have you started comping for Christmas?
Autumn has certainly arrived here on the island and we have been enjoying some lovely weekend walks along the coastline, on the cliffs and through the woods. One thing we are never short of here on the Isle of Wight is beautiful scenery and wildlife! In particular as a family we are huge fans of squirrels, and red ones especially. In point of fact there are no grey squirrels here on the Island and it is an offence to introduce greys to the Island – it is a conservation habitat for red squirrels. Red squirrels are much more timid and difficult to spot than greys we have found, and like to play hide and seek when you try and take their photo in the woods.
Did you know there is even a National Red Squirrel Week? Well there is and it is this week: 28th September – 4th October 2015. Across the country people are being asked to get involved with projects set up to help our furry, nut-loving friends. Head over to The Red Squirrel Week page at the Wildlife Trust website and find out how you can get involved locally in conservation projects and activities.
In celebration of this important week here at The PrizeFinder we are giving away a fabulous squirrel-themed bundle in our monthly competition, open exclusively to members. I will choose one winner at random after the closing date of Sunday 4th October 2015 at 23:59 who will receive a flip top heavy duty wooden squirrel feeder and 6kg of squirrel food from Ark Wildlife – perfect for helping your local squirrel friends through the cold months to come! The durable timber squirrel feeder features a platform for the squirrels to sit on, lifting the lid to retrieve the food. The specially formulated squirrel food includes sunflower seeds, peanuts, hazelnuts, pine nuts and no wheat fillers – certain to keep the squirrels coming back to your garden time after time and off the bird feeders too! To join in simply leave me a comment below and tell me what your favourite garden visitor is, be it a bird or an animal – obviously mine would be a red squirrel or maybe a hedgehog. You need to be registered with The PrizeFinder and logged into your account to enter; one entry per person and one winner will be chosen at random.
Happy comping and lots of Lucky Dust to you all!

Hedgehog visitors are my favourite
I love squirrels - in fact, when I was a kid I wanted to be one! I had a 'tail' made from an old scarf and would jump about the furniture. These days I settle for just watching them from the window. :)
I have a pair of robins who visit my garden. x
A grey Squirrel that passes along the fence along the bottom of the garden....I love squirrels - my husband says they are just rats with good PR! I am not put off and have planted a hazelnut tree to try to get the squirrel to stay longer so I can watch him from the kitchen window...it's getting established so my fingers are crossed... in the meantime we do enjoy the nesting pair of blackbirds that visit us each year too :-)
I love Foxes and Hedgehogs visiting my garden!
I just love all wildlife in my garden from normal blue tits to a peregrine falcon and all in between. I just love seeing them feed and watch then run/fly/hop around after insects and annoying the cats. What more can an animal lover ask.
We live in the countryside and the other day we saw two gorgeous Red Deer in our garden!
At the moment a fox who loves our recycled pots :)
We love the Blackbirds that come into our garden. Especially the one that follows us around until we put some food out. The squirrels are funny too when they chase each other around the garden.
We have a big fat wood pigeon that visits our garden. My daughter thinks he is very funny.
I have been lucky to have had five hedgehogs visit my garden this year.
I did have a sparrow hawk visit earlier this year with its kill but have only seen it once.
Mine is the the blackbirds, love to see them running around
My little boy loves watching the squirrel bury acorns in our garden!
My favourite garden visitor is the most gorgeous little Robin in our garden x
It has to be a squirrel of course ! They are so sweet and skittish ! The prize would be great ...please count me in .
I love it when I'm lucky enough to get goldfinches in the garden. Sadly it doesn't happen every year and this year , I saw none :) Never mind, there's always next year!
We have hedgehogs that visit every night, 4 frogs in our pond and a grey squirrel we feed peanuts. Love them all!
We have a hedgehog that is a regular visitor. There are squirrels around so would love a squirrel feeder! My grandson is squirrel mad and has two toy ones that he carries everywhere so he would be in heaven to see some in the garden!
Beautiful goldfinches. They sit opposite each other on the Niger seed feeder. synchronised alternate pecking! hang up some Niger seed and they will come!
We have squirrels that regularly visit and keep us entertained with their garden acrobatics! !
I love seeing the brown squirrel who frequents my garden. If I had a feeder he may not eat all the cherries.
A little robin red breast!
My favourite garden visitor is a hedgehog,
Mine was an albino squirrel, but he's not longer with us.
i love cats so mine are all the cute cats that come to our garden! i dont know why so many come but they do! and they are cute lol
I've got some lovely garden spiders spinning beautiful webs.
I love all the birds that sit in our tree and come down to the feeder
We have a little grey squirrel that's started visiting our garden, very cute, the kids love seeing it. It has been enjoying our peanut feeder and even stole the last one, watched it stealing apples from our tree too and running away with them. Would love to provide it with a regular food supply over winter.
I saw a squirrel running across my road this week but I'never seen one in my garden. The best animal I've witnessed was a white rabbit sat on my front garden on an Easter Sunday years ago - it was sheer magic for me and my son who was little at the time.
The robins, black birds and blue tits who come in my garden, with the frogs hopping around.
