Hello there and welcome to the brand new PrizeFinder blog! Let me introduce myself: I’m Di Coke, and I’ve been entering competitions since 1999. Since then I’ve won around £180,000 worth of prizes, including a VW Beetle, 30 holidays and over £20,000 in cash. I’ve been blogging about my hobby at for over two years, and I was delighted when The Prizefinder invited me to become their resident blogger and competition expert.

So, what do I have to offer? I love the world of online competitions and every single day I’m on my computer checking out the latest exciting promotions on the internet, Facebook and Twitter. I’ll be blogging about these new competitions, as well as offering tips and advice on improving your chances of winning. I’ll show you how to make the most of the extensive PrizeFinder competition listings, and how to make the best use of your limited comping time. My greatest successes are in creative competitions that require a bit of effort, so I’ll be giving you advice on how to write successful slogans, take perfect photos, create viral videos and invent riveting recipes!

As well as my regular blog, I’ll be telling you about the very latest competitions over at - and you can follow for competition tweets too. And if you have questions or need advice, feel free to comment either here on the blog or over on Facebook and I’ll see how I can help.

And finally, a word of warning: if you’re new to comping, this hobby can be SERIOUSLY addictive...

Hi Di,

I'm not that experienced with the Facebook comps and the Advent comps have thrown up a couple of questions. I don't know if you can help.

1- I've been hitting share when required, but I've just noticed in one page that the page owner says that only 'global' shares can be picked up by the gizmo that picks one at random. I normally only share with friends. Is that a problem or do different pages have different rules/software?

2- I'm hoping that most pages will get in touch by e-mail. But I've noticed that some say to check back to see if you've won. If you DO spot your name, how do you know if it's you and not someone with the same name?

I hope that you can help!

Thanks for the questions Carol!

1. If a competition only requires a Share to enter, you MUST set your Share as Public for it to be visible. The promoter can ONLY see Public Shares, they won't see any that are just shared with Friends or a specific Friends list. People claim they have won prizes by only sharing with Friends, but in these cases the promoter is likely to be choosing their winner from the post comments that say 'Liked and Shared' (rather than the Shares list) - which is why I always recommend you leave a comment to say you've shared too!

2. Promoters shouldn't announce a winner in a wall post, as it's against Facebook rules. Unfortunately they still insist on doing it! They will usually send a message as well as post on their wall (check your OTHER inbox for this, by clicking 'Messages' on your left hand menu - it's underneath) but if you're not sure, you could always comment on their post with ' this me?'! Many Facebook compers are adding their middle initial to their names to make them more unusual too!

Thanks for the question Sandra! After a bit of research it appears that the United Kingdom DOESN'T include the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, And 'Great Britain' is only England, Wales and Scotland... so it seems you can't enter any of the comps unless they specifically state they are open to the UK and Channel Islands - sorry!

When I add new comps I'll include 'open to Channel Islands residents' if I see it in the rules Sandra, and I'll mention it to Steve too!

Hi again Di,

Bacardi FB page are giving away 1000 prizes of a 12 pack premix case per the newsletter I received) - so another one with a lot of small prizes. It's under the My Bacardi tab at the side. BUT it's drawn on the 12th December and I've looked at the add a comp button and it suggests that it takes 3 days to add a comp.

Is there any kind of 'urgent' route to speed up the process for this kind of comp?

Or it might be another one that you would like to publicise under the blog heading?

Thanks Carol!

I spotted this one on Facebook yesterday and shared it on the PrizeFinder page straightaway. Unfortunately I don't get time to add all the Facebook comps to TPF as there are so many, although I do my best. If you spot one like this, you could always post it yourself at to bring it to my attention, and I can ask Steve to add it to the site ASAP!

A few weeks ago I received a mobile call from Coca Cola to say I had won a Samsung Galaxy Tab and it would be with me within 2 weeks. I had no recollection of it but think it was a text comp that I was advised of in my weekly email from Accolade. It was with Powerade and 40 to win. I still havn't received it and it has been a few weeks. I don't have any phone number etc to get in contact. Do you know of any other winners that have still not received theirs?

Hmmm, we need to get a bit of positive thinking here treboreuk! If you THINK lucky then you're more likely to BE lucky (honestly, it works!). Lots of people are too busy to enter comps in the run up to Christmas so take advantage of that and try some of the Facebook competitions that need a photo or a tiebreaker entry!

It is just a hypothetical question.

If I were to win a car, where would I stand regarding selling it. I have tried to research this over the web and it's all only on the U.S turf, they say you have to pay taxes or something along those lines if you want to sell it back to the dealership. Theres nothing about that kind of issue in Europe or elsewhere?

I mean the prize cars are nice but the people who set the competition do not think about insurance and the rest of the bumf what comes with a car, half the time.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Many of my friends have won cars and sold them straight back to the dealers, but you do lose a couple of grand in the process!

Hello Di

Me again, do you still enter competitions and what has been your recent wins of late and like some do you have a list of items you would like to win this year (2013).

hi which instant win was it? not unusual to not hear anything for a while after winning, but pretty safe usually if they have said your details have been passed on.
