Hello again everyone!  Well we did it, we survived the summer holidays – woohoo!  Seriously, I did really enjoy having the children home for the summer, but by the end of August bickering between them was starting to set in, and the juggling required to manage working from home, running the house and the kids was getting to a level that a circus performer would struggle to keep up with!  My eldest went back to school last week (Year 4, big girl now), and my youngest starts in Reception class today – very exciting times!  How was your summer?  Are you, like me, secretly glad to have a bit of normality back, or would you happily have summer all year round?

The children will no doubt be very tired for the next few weeks, adjusting to life back at school.  This means we can have some nice quiet after-school sessions catching up on a few movies and some good books.  I might even be able to read some of the eBooks I have stored on the iPad for myself – I download them all the time, but never seem to get chance to read them!  How about you?  Do you have a favourite reading time or spot?  Do you like to read in the bath when you get some “me time”?  Are you a bed-reader?  Would a £50 Amazon voucher help to increase your library of hard-copy books or eBooks?  I thought it would!  Well, to celebrate Agatha Christie Week (14-21 September 2014) and Roald Dahl Day (13th September 2014) here at The Prizefinder we are offering our lovely members the opportunity to win £50 of Amazon vouchers, for you to spend on whatever you like, in our exclusive competition!  You could treat yourself to a whole book-shelf of books, or several MBs of eBooks, how about some eBooks or paperbacks for the children, maybe some Christmas stories to squirrel away – the choice is yours!  All you need to do to enter is comment on this blog and let me know what your favourite book of all time is!  For me it is a tough choice – I love old historical fiction and non-fiction like Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, Little House on the Prairie etc.  But I think my go-to book has to be Pride & Prejudice – must have read it 100 times, and it still feels like a comforting blanket and a bowl of homemade stew in book-form every time I read it.  Entries close at 23:59 on Sunday 14th September 2014, and you need to be a registered member and logged into your account to enter.  So, give it some thought, and drop me a comment below – I am looking forward to reading all your great book suggestions!

Happy comping everyone, lots of Lucky Dust to you all!

Kirsty x

has to be the Game of Thrones series - A Song Of Ice And Fire ...unfortunately though each book is so big and thick I think I would give myself a hernia trying to take one to read on my morning commute! Would be great to get the Ebooks from Amazon to read on my tablet instead. Not that I'm hinting or anything.....

I am regularly drawn back to Donna Tartt's Secret History. Despite that I have read it numerous time on each reading it manages to draw in.

Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel. I loved it so much I named my daughter Ayla after the main character.I named her before she was born and she is so independant just like the character with long blonde hair and blue eyes and feisty like her name sake!! it is a fantastic book the first of a series of six books and I have read it over and over.

" Over 30,000 years ago, in a world we know but would not recognize, a young girl of five plays by herself on a creek bank. Suddenly, her world shifts, as a cataclysmic earthquake leaves her an orphan in a harsh Ice Age landscape"

I love the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series - starts with Wolf Brother. They are teenage books but the story is so enchanting

Favourite book i can just read over and over again is Jane Eyre. It reminds me of being a young child and being read to by my grandma.

My oldest, most tattered and dearest book is an illustrated hardback copy of Aesops Fables. It was this book that taught me to read and is responsible for a lifelong love of books

I love Lord of the Rings, I am a bit of a geek when it comes down to it. I love all Tolkien's work in fact. My partner makes fun of me because I know all the names of things. It is my secret pleasure.

Under an English Heaven by Robert Radcliffe
I've always had an interest in anything war related as both my grandparents served in WW2 and I found I couldn't put this book down once I'd started it!

I have read Nabokov`s masterpiece `Lolita` a number of times and am rewarded anew each time by the virtuosity of his prose, and staggered again every time at the knowledge that English was not even his first language!

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett is my favourite book and holds a special place in my heart. I first read this when I was about 7 and was immediately lost in the story. As an adult re-reading the book, I see more than it just being a story of an isolated girl left to amuse herself discovering a secret garden and a boy in a hidden bedroom, but rather about a journey towards discovery and healing.

I read in bed every night - it is the perfect way for me to unwind. I love the Stephen King Dark tower series - I know it is more than 1 book, but it is truly great!
