If there is one thing I enjoy, it is caption competitions, and I have had a reasonable amount of success over the last few years. One seemed to be eluding me though, until now. The Golfalot.com caption comp is probably a bit stiffer to get into, not least of all, because you have to get your entry accepted onto the shortlist first.
But yes, I finally cracked it, after about 2 years trying, in the April comp. The prize is a very nice players towel, and a Ricky Fowler style cap (thankfully a bit more toned down than Ricky's usual caps).
For all those who feel like giving up at times, this was after a dry spell of nearly 6 months without any wins...hang on in there guys, you just never know when.
Happy comping to all.

We won a 5K Dream Ticket
Tuesday, May 21, 2013
Earlier this year I saw a Nivea 'say hello' competition in the skill-based list. The competition was to bring people closer with Nivea by saying hello. They had booths in shopping centres and people could record a video message or picture that captured the spirit of saying hello. We recorded my daughter saying hello by throwing a message in a bottle and about a month later, we got an email to say we'd won a £5,000 dream ticket to anywhere in the world! We're over the moon! Thanks Prize Finder :-)
My First Win
Monday, May 20, 2013
I have been entering competitions on ThePrizefinder for nearly a year. I spend a couple of hours a week entering the closing soon competitions and Facebook competitions. I was seriously thinking of giving up as I was getting really disheartened as I hadn't won anything at all when I got an email saying that I had won a Direct Line competition. I won £250 in John Lewis vouchers. It really made my day and has given me the boost I needed to carry on entering competitions. I didn't quite believe it until my prize arrived in the post. I had no problems with spending my vouchers - I bought an iPod, a kettle, a toaster, a pair of trainers and clothes. It felt like Christmas morning when all of my packages arrived! If anyone gets to the stage that I was at and is thinking of quitting hopefully my winner's story will motivate you to carry on entering competitions.
My First Ever Win!
Monday, May 20, 2013
I’ve been comping for about a year now and sadly haven’t won a thing!! I was about to give up on the comping craze until I received an email from ASOS Fashion Finder to say I had won their 3rd place prize, a £50 ASOS voucher! I recommend Fashion Finder to any fashion fanatic out there! You can have a lot of fun creating as many stylish outfits as you like while comping at the same time. I can’t wait to receive my voucher and start building up my holiday wardrobe! This little win has boosted my moral and I am now even more determined to enter lots more competitions and hopefully win a few more prizes in the future. A little note to everyone; don’t give up and good luck with your comping!!
`Spa` acular Day
Monday, May 20, 2013
In January I won via Facebook a whole pile of (12) for 2 people spa day vouchers and decided to use 8 of them at once. Sixteen of us went off and had the most amazing day being pampered with treatments and lazing in the hot tub. Definitely one of my favourite wins. I have also won two Coronation Festival tickets for the Gala Event on Friday 12 July which includes food and drink, won via Waitrose purchase competition listed in Compers news and on Prizefinder. A twitter win with Cultbox brought a bundle of DVDs and another £25 M&S vouchers for a food tip. On a recent London trip thanks to info from Di, my daughter and I were able to get some vouchers from Next and H&M. I have never been lucky with blog competitions but that just changed as two London Dungeon tickets have just been won via a blog. Good luck everyone and keep comping.
Things come in threes!

I've been comping for a while without much success but then WHAM...in the past 10 days I've won 3 things! The BabyRug via a mummy blogger, A Phil and Ted's wriggle wrapper via a website and today I've won a bundle of Warburtons goodies on Twitter! Having a 5 week old means lots of sitting and feeding time so I use this time to comp too... thanks for listing them, I'd never have found them otherwise.
Like waiting for a bus!!!
Sunday, May 19, 2013
After what seemed like a very long wait, just like buses three prizes came along at once!! And on a Friday too, a very good start to the weekend.
Firstly I won an instant prize on the All Bran daily, then I had an email to say I'd won a bottle of Lambrini (another FB comp), then through the post I received 2 lipbalms from a Superdrup/Carmex FB comp.
All small prizes but a very BIG boost for comping morale!
Happy comping all.I won a holiday and turned it into my wedding!
Sunday, May 12, 2013
Last August I was off work with a broken wrist feeling very miserable when the phone rang. A lady asked if I remembered entering a competition on the Carte Noire Facebook page. I did. She said I had won the first prize - a 5* 10 night luxury trip for 2 to Thailand. I nearly fainted! The prize was 3 nights at the Four Seasons Bangkok and 7 nights at the Banyan Tree Phuket including flights and £1000 prize money!
We planned our trip for April and began to research where we were staying. One night my other half said "It looks like a fabulous place to get married" and that was it. We contacted the hotel in Phuket and chose a wedding package. We didn't tell anyone what we were doing and planned everything in secret!
Then on 14th April, on our magical holiday we got married on Bang Tao beach in Phuket. It was magical and it only happened because of this wonderful prize and you wonderful ThePrizeFinder peeps!
Want more wins? Try skill-based comps
Sunday, May 12, 2013
It began last June with a simple competition asking me to 'fashion a religion' for PC gamers. It was a curious concept and one that puzzled me, but none the less I piled hours into research and drawing (And I'm no artist!) and come the next month I was the new owner of a £1000 PC. This is where my addiction began.....
Months followed and I was homing in on every skill-based comp there was, in order to fulfill my desire for more prizes. Poems, photos, paintings, stories....I did them all, and whether it was a jar of honey or some new flip-flops, I could not help but feel pleased with myself for my newly-found creative streak.
Of course, I'm too busy now with work to 'comp' as I did several months ago. But I'm still keeping my eye out for those few comps that challenge my creativity (regardless of the prize). Anyhow, here's my latest win from J20. Got some friends to go paintballing and bought £10 of J20 and ouila! - another prize to be proud of.
Was about to give up when I won!
Friday, May 10, 2013
I've always enjoyed entering competitions occasionally, but I never really entered more than 5 a week, until about a month ago when I discovered ThePrizeFinder! I read all the winners stories and got excited about the thought of winning prizes, but after about 3 weeks of entering tons of competitions and not winning anything I was about to give up, when out of the blue I won some Rise of the Guardian goodies from the National Geographic Kids website! I didn't even know they were coming until the postman delivered them :-) My kids were really pleased!
