WIN a £50 Amazon voucher!

Here's a great new competition especially for registered PrizeFinder members – you could win a £50 Amazon voucher just by telling us about the BEST prize you've ever won in a competition!

I'll start by telling you about my best ever prize - it was a VW Beetle which I won in a slogan competition way back in 2002. I'd only been entering 'purchase necessary' tiebreaker competitions for a couple of years and this was a BIG purchase – to enter, you had to buy a Zanussi washing machine and send off a copy of your receipt with the entry form. As if by magic, my ten year old washer actually broke down a few days after I spotted the competition - I took that as a sign I should enter and bought the washer on a year's interest free credit. I spent ages on my slogan which I must admit, wasn't one of my best efforts – but you never know what the judges are looking for!

"I like to wash my clothes in a Zanussi because…
From winter woolies to skimpy underwear,
Zanussi technology is programmed to care"

…and a couple of months later I got the Winning Telephone Call from Electrolux to say I'd won the car! I was over the moon - I'd always wanted a Beetle, and even when they made me sit on a washing machine outside my local Currys store for the local newspaper photographer I didn't mind.

Photobucket

I've won lots of amazing prizes since then, but I really loved that car - it will take an incredible prize to top that!

And so - now we want to hear about YOUR best prize. It might be the most valuable prize you've won, or a proper money-can't-buy experience. Maybe it was a toy that your child really wanted - or was your very first prize the most special? Leave a comment here on this blog post telling us what the prize was and what made it so special, and one winner will be chosen at random to win a £50 Amazon voucher.

Your comment won't appear here immediately as we have moderation set up on the blog, but as long as it's received before 12 midnight on Sunday 30 September 2012 it will count!

Terms and Conditions

1. Open to UK residents aged 18 or over
2. Entrants must be registered PrizeFinder users and logged in to their account – anonymous comments won't be included in the draw
3. Only one entry per person
4. The winner will be chosen at random.
5. The closing date is 30th September 2012.
6. Entrants will be notified by email within 7 days of the closing date and the £50 Amazon voucher will be sent via email

It was probably an internet Loreal comp where you had to select and match outfits to suit different types of personality. I won a long weekend in Milan for two in the poshest most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed in!! It was an Italian equivalent of the Savoy and we were given £500 spends and a lovely set of Louis Vuitton luggage which draws comments of admiration every time I use it.....

Best ever prize was a trip to Budapest - flights, three nights in a great hotel and champagne on arrival. Our hotel room had a balcony overlooking the Danube and in spite of it being the end of November the weather was hot enough to sit on the balcony drinking our champagne. We managed to get an early flight out and a late flight back so we could maximise our time there and had a wonderful time exploring the city

I've not yet had a BIIIG win, but the smaller ones are very welcome.

My best prize was in August 1996. Walkers crisps were running a giveaway where they were putting coupons for free crisps or a cheque in some of their bags. I was in work and bought a bag in the local newsagents. When I found a blue packet I thought "Great, a free bag", opened it, and was stunned to see a cheque for £100! The reaction in work was amazing - and the shop must have wondered why they suddenly had a huge run on Walkers crisps. Even the cashiers in the bank, when I took it in, were all coming over to look at it.

I think it feels even better than the competitions you enter because the chances of winning are so slim!

I have won some amazing prizes since i started comping 15 years ago but the one that stands out for me was a Trip to the Ice hotel in Sweden, I entered it in mine and my hubby's name and his name was picked out as a winner. We went with our two teenage daughters and got to experience Snowmobiling to a wilderness camp where we ate reindeer stew round a log fire in a wooden tepee,we saw a glimpse of the northern lights, and also took part in a ice sculpting workshop the prize included 3 nights in a log cabin and a night in the Ice hotel and a £1000 spending money, it was such a special holiday and i will always remember sat in the ice bar drinking vodka out of a ice glass with Andrea Bocelli playing and my hubby looking like he had won the lottery to be sharing such a wonderful experience with his girls.

I only started to seriously comp about a year ago, as things were tough, so I thought "well you never know, give it a go". I have won small things like underwear and chocolates so that is nice, but the biggest prize I have ever won was a prize from the old radio show Pepsi Network Chart Show, on which I won tickets to the premiere of the James Bond film 'The World Is Not Enough' in Leicester Square London with accommodation for two in a hotel in Knightsbridge. Needless to say, up until now that was the best prize I have won, I am however getting more entries into comps thanks to Prizefinder - so i am sure another big win will not be too far away!

I work from home running an internet based business and so my laptop is vital. I loved it so much but it was getting old and kept switching off every few minutes and crashing. I could not afford a new one and so I entered a competition on facebook to win a new acer laptop. It was a gaming competition and I had to borrow my father's computer to play it. I spent hours and hours desperately tapping away on the keys trying to get the highest score in the world for the game (that was how you won the prize). I worked so hard that my fingers stiffened up. Just when I thought I had got the highest score someone came along and beat it with a score which seemed completely impossible. I felt gutted. However a couple of days later I received an email from the company hosting the competition saying I had won the laptop!!! It turns out that the individual who got the unrealistic score had cheated. I was utterly elated. A few days later my shiny new laptop arrived and I love it. Thankfully I was able to get my business back on track again.

Undoubtedly the best prize I have won was a trip for two to Canada in March 2010. I have won other holidays and short breaks away but this one was fantastic!

We first flew out to Montreal where we had two nights exploring this fascinating city then had train tickets to Quebec from where we were taken to a winter sports centre called Duchesnay. There we could ski, snowshoe, had an exhilarating session driving huskies through pine forests and across snowy plains, a snowmobile ride and a visit (with free cocktail) to the Ice Hotel. We were offered a night there but declined!

After three nights there we went to Quebec. We loved this quaint city, wstching the ice floes on the St Lawrence river and visiting the imposing Chateau Frontenac, scene of that historic conference with Churchill in 1943, or was it 1944?

Sadly we had to bid farewell to Quebec after a couple of nights to return to Montreal for our trip home - but what a gorgeous prize this was!

After about 20 or more years of doing competitions and not winning anything more than £150 worth of vouchers, last year I finally won something really worth while, a 5 night holiday to the Seychelles worth about £5500. It just goes to show you have to persevere.

My best prize was an all inclusive holiday to Jamaica. It wasn't just the fact that I'd won a holiday that made it the best, but that I won it the week after I got married! We didn't really have a honeymoon organised so it was a great surprise, plus it was the first holiday abroad I'd ever been on which made it even more special!

The best prize I have ever won was £8,888 from an ITV competition. I actually received the winning call on my due date! You'd think a call like that would induce labour but nope, baby boy hung on for another ten days! However, this money came at a crucial point in our lives. We were expecting our first baby, had moved in with my parents after having to move out of our cottage to let the landlady move back in (at 6 months pregnant, no less!) and were struggling to pay our way on a single wage and a little maternity pay.

This money helped us to get back up on our feet and also treat our parents who had been nothing short of amazing to us

I won a trip to the Bahamas. My husband and I couldn't afford a honeymoon when we got married, so we decided that this would be a belated honeymoon, we spent months talking about how we were going to lie on the beach drinking cocktails.......2 weeks before we left I found out I was pregnant, so instead of drinking cocktails I was drinking water, instead of lying on the beach I was in the hotel room sleeping. Fast forward a year and I've got a beautiful baby boy, who was worth every single missed cocktail and the gorgeous tan I thought I'd be coming back with.

The best prize I've ever won was an exclusive visit to the then 'closed' set of the Harry Potter film studios at Leavesden, in March 2008. This was a worldwide competition run by Warner Bros. My husband and I were escorted round under tight security by the production team and sworn to secrecy before being shown the sets & special effects of the Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows film. The high point of the day was having a fabulous meal in the Great Hall of Hogwarts, whilst being entertained by a super magician. We also met Neville Longbottom & Cho Chang & had photos taken with them.
An amazing money can't buy experience, we'll never forget

I've never won a really big prize, but I think my favourite and best so far is a Dualit toaster and a years supply of Guinness flavoured Marmite! I already had a Dualit toaster so I sold that for about £100 on eBay - and I hate Marmite so that went on eBay too!

I think I made about £120 out of it in total.
Never won anything else worth that much - only little prizes so far but I'm grateful for every one.

My funniest prize was a set of professional makeup brushes - I'm a bloke, but my alter-ego, Ms. Rose Hypnol, was delighted with her prize!

The best prize I ever won was a week's holiday on a ranch in Wyoming, courtesy of Marks and Spencer magazine. I had entered the slogan comp for my husband, who had always enjoyed horse riding. I myself have always been nervous of horses, and I imagined that, should I win, I would be happy to sit on the verandah of our cabin, reading and enjoying the spectacular views of the Bighorn Mountains. However, on the first day of our holiday, we were taken to the indoor riding arena, where a smart bay horse was saddled up and waiting, with my husband's name on the board beside him, and a large, steady black horse had been allocated to me ! Having travelled so far, I thought perhaps I should give the thing a go, and mounted my faithful steed. I should perhaps also mention that at the time I was in my mid-50's, overweight, and had broken my back quite seriously only 9 months before. The ranch hands were amazingly patient and encouraging, and each day the horses were boxed up and we rode in the beautiful wild countryside. One day I came face to face with a large moose ! When the cattle were being brought down from the hills, my husband spent days in the saddle, helping the wranglers, whilst I assisted with the food wagon and enjoyed the fantastic sight of thousands of cattle being driven down through the hills. We felt we were living in our own Western movie. It was a holiday we will always remember, and something we could never have afforded to do ourselves. It is one of the pleasures of entering comps, that you get to do new things outside your normal experience.

My first ever big prize was an iPod Classic which I won back in 2007 in Coca Cola's purchase necessary competition. Ok, not that big in size or value but I was really over the moon! Luckily I didn't have to pay for my hectolitres of Coke as it was part of my employee meal ;)
