WIN a £50 Amazon voucher!

Here's a great new competition especially for registered PrizeFinder members – you could win a £50 Amazon voucher just by telling us about the BEST prize you've ever won in a competition!

I'll start by telling you about my best ever prize - it was a VW Beetle which I won in a slogan competition way back in 2002. I'd only been entering 'purchase necessary' tiebreaker competitions for a couple of years and this was a BIG purchase – to enter, you had to buy a Zanussi washing machine and send off a copy of your receipt with the entry form. As if by magic, my ten year old washer actually broke down a few days after I spotted the competition - I took that as a sign I should enter and bought the washer on a year's interest free credit. I spent ages on my slogan which I must admit, wasn't one of my best efforts – but you never know what the judges are looking for!

"I like to wash my clothes in a Zanussi because…
From winter woolies to skimpy underwear,
Zanussi technology is programmed to care"

…and a couple of months later I got the Winning Telephone Call from Electrolux to say I'd won the car! I was over the moon - I'd always wanted a Beetle, and even when they made me sit on a washing machine outside my local Currys store for the local newspaper photographer I didn't mind.

I've won lots of amazing prizes since then, but I really loved that car - it will take an incredible prize to top that!

And so - now we want to hear about YOUR best prize. It might be the most valuable prize you've won, or a proper money-can't-buy experience. Maybe it was a toy that your child really wanted - or was your very first prize the most special? Leave a comment here on this blog post telling us what the prize was and what made it so special, and one winner will be chosen at random to win a £50 Amazon voucher.

Your comment won't appear here immediately as we have moderation set up on the blog, but as long as it's received before 12 midnight on Sunday 30 September 2012 it will count!

Terms and Conditions

1. Open to UK residents aged 18 or over
2. Entrants must be registered PrizeFinder users and logged in to their account – anonymous comments won't be included in the draw
3. Only one entry per person
4. The winner will be chosen at random.
5. The closing date is 30th September 2012.
6. Entrants will be notified by email within 7 days of the closing date and the £50 Amazon voucher will be sent via email

I started doing competitions about 15 years ago, way before the internet was so popular! Back in 1998 I won a holiday to Portugal with an entry form competition in Thomas Cook magazine, me and my boyfriend (now hubby) flew to Portugal and collected a hire car and then we drove across Portugal staying at three different Pousadas, which are a bit like our National Trust properties. It was a wonderful holiday!

I list comping, now, as the top of my hobbies. I am lucky enough to have won many prizes from books, to days out, holidays and much, much more...
But by far my most favourite prize was from the Daily Mail and was a trip to Mauritius for 2. Beachcomber holidays who had run the competition with the Daily Mail were AWESOME and for a really good deal (which we paid extra for) they allowed us to take all 4 of our children along with us. We swam with dolphins in the sea, snorkelled and we were treated like Royalty! We are back to our usual camping holidays again now, but we feel very priveleged to have had the opportunity to visit a country which we would not ordinarily have had the chance to visit. I am also fortunate to have a family who support my hobby, because I have 4 children, juggle 2 part time jobs and look after my poorly Mother-in-law, so I tend to grab 5 minutes here and there to enter online what I can. When I first started comping it was all postcard and entry form entries - these days I do them all online!

I have not been comping very long but I have to say I am torn between 2 wins which I got on the same day I won a Tresor Paris Bracelet of my choice & a Estee Lauder Lipstick with any name of my choosing engraved on it. I know these are not big wins compared to some but my lipstick is a talking point when I am out as it is so unusual & I just adore my bracelet.

Absolute doddle this one. A week's all-inclusive tour or the Maya ruins, canals and cities etc for two on Mexico's Cancun peninsula, all flights also included.
With the release of the DVD, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" (2009, I think) the prize was offered by Paramount (again, I think). Somehow I won! I was, though, at the time very unwell and asked the promoters if my wife could take our 10 year old daughter with her. Unfortunately not but they sent her the DVD as a consolation for not going. So my wife and cousin went instead.
A week of total peace! ;o)

My best win was in 2009 and a competition I couldn't even remember entering.
I won a VIP 5 star 24 hour trip to Moscow with Russian Standard Vodka. I was flown from Heathrow to Moscow, picked up in a Hummer limo with unlimited champagne and food, shown the sites of Moscow, taken to the Ritz Carlton to get made over and use the spa, then taken too an AMAZING restaurant for a 5 course meal, then taken to a nightclub with a 6 month waiting list for an MTV aftershow party until 6am, then taken for breakfast and then taken back too the airport. An amazing win with unlimited alcohol! Perfect. I never spent a penny.

I started comping back in the early 90's when computer competitions were non existent and most of the competitions were postal entries. I won a few bits and pieces (hats, t-shirts, books etc.) then one day received a letter saying I had won 10,000 air miles. I won it from a competition I filled in on a beer mat although I can't for the life of me remember who ran it. I was totally underwhelmed at the time because I didn't know what airmiles were but they took my husband and I to San Fransisco - flying back from Los Angeles - for a two week holiday with the flights completely free. We also flew to Berlin for a short stay again flying free of charge and to Geneva for a weeks stay - free flights (not one trip after the other you understand - it was spread over three years!). That was a brilliant prize and now that I have recently started comping again, maybe I will get something even better.

th i won a 46" Samsung smart 3DTV from absolute radio. I have been comping a couple of years and had won a few small things such like a dvd , a cd and a bowl. I started doing comps as i had to give up work due to ill health and wanted to win a holiday or something good for my family to enjoy. They laughed at my competition entering but were all overjoyed when the Tv arrived.

My best win to date (Have only been comping for about a year) was a 2012 plate Shiny Black Seat Ibiza won with Seat Club Ibiza on Facebook back in may!

I was given fully comprehensive insurance, a full tank of petrol and a camcorder to compose a review on the car.

This is also probably my worst prize to date, as I was unaware at the time it was part of a promotion and had to give the car back after a fortnight :*( lol

I cried a lot of the last day lol

I have won more expensive things but my best prize was a smart Tv and a years subscription to Love Film that I won with Quidco.

Why was it the best prize? Well myself and my son made a lego animation which took many hours of blood, sweat and tears. He was so made up when we won and the effort we put into it made us feel like it was really worth it.

I have been comping for about 7 years now and have only won 3 prizes, but the best one was a trip to Arsenal to see a game, have a meal and a photograph taken with Fabregas. I let my 9 year old son at the time have the photo taken with him, as he is an avid fan. The joy on his face was priceless.

Since the late 1970s I've won loads of prizes including 2 cars and 3 cruises and £1,000 from estimating with a map and a piece of cotton how many boxes of Mr Kipling apple pies would stretch round the M25.
My best prize, though, was £50 of National Garden Vouchers won from either Amateur Gardening or Suttons Seeds, for the pleasure it has given to the whole family and neighbours' children. ("Sylvia, can we come and look at the pond")
Yes! We purchased a then new fangled butyl pond liner which snugly fitted the lovingly dug hole for a new pond in the front lawn. Hubby brought home York crazy paving that was going in a skip. Our girls and the children I minded took turns with the hose, swishing it to disperse the chlorine.
Villagers, friends and even the Milkman brought us plants and snails, and frogs and newts soon discovered it. We kneel beside it to watch what's going on below the surface and wonder at the dainty newts parting the fronds of weed and fearsome dragonfly larvae.
We even held a tea party beside our pond after my Father-in-law's burial at the local church. The dragonflies flitted about amongst us which was somehow comforting and a joy to watch....
.... And our pond is still loved by us all and the birds, cats and foxes who come for a drink.

Has to be when I won £2.500 in the TV comp Golden Balls, we were seriously struggling at the time (about 4yrs ago) and I could've cried with relief when i found out I'd won, but better than that was that i'd entered online because it was a free entry route and my husband insisted no-one ever won this way as the promoters were only interested in people who paid to enter, He had to eat his words !

Might sound trivial to some people, but the best prize I won was a Personal Safety Alarm. I found out I had won it just a few days after my mum had an intruder in the house. She now feels safe if she's ever on her own :O)

AS someone already said, your first prize is the most memorable. It is for me. I did enter comps ever so often but did not really take it serious but last year I had an email from lovely Nivea that I won to take part in their big 100 year celebration. We were flown out to Hamburg to spend one night of celebration on a cruise ship. What a fab day we had meeting all the big wigs of Nivea with a special concert from Rhianna on board. It did really strike a cord with me as I've used Nivea all my life and remembered all those adverts they displayed on the ship from my childhood till now.
I've now started to comp more and had a few small wins and 2 bigger wins so nothing as fab as you all have been lol. I think I still need to learn a lot from you all about how to be a successful comper but I enjoy doing it just wished I could put more time into it. But thank you for running Prize finder which is a great help to me and thank you to all the comping friends I made on facebook :)

My best ever win was amongst my first, some 20 years ago (I started at a very early age haha!)
I won a trip to the Olympic Games in Barcelona with Mars. We had a fabulous 3 days, all expenses paid and a wonderful wonderful memory made. I took my mom - she absolutely loved it! We saw Linford Christie, Tessa sanderson, Ben Johnson amongst others.
It was a traditional slogan comp, and I was only 19 at the time!! And I've been comping ever since........

My best prize to date was a safari in Kenya. I had wished and dreamed of visiting Africa since I was a young child. How fantastic it was to win a holiday and have a dream wish answered. I now have a scrapbook of photos and memories, to remind me wishes can come true.
