Share Your August Wins

Submitted by tpf_kirsty on Fri, 2014-08-01 07:29

Hello again everyone!  August already, how did that happen?  Have you had any summer highlights yet?  I have been enjoying all things outdoors mainly, including the start of the carnival season here on the Island – and now my daughter wants to join the Carnival Club when she goes back to school, so she can be of it next year haha.  It is also the start of Cowes week this weekend, and living right in the centre of Cowes, as a family we plan to embrace it fully – bound to be lots of lovely comps about to enter too!  Do let us know what you have been up to this month; we love to hear from you!

In terms of wins, July has been my best month this year so far – 23 wins, not too shabby!  Granted most of these have been little wins, but they all count towards the main total, and it is the little wins that keep us going sometimes, especially in this dry spells we all have.  For me, my monthly wins tend to start well, dry up towards the middle of the month and then pick back up towards the end.  A lot of my small wins were won through the Higgidy game this month – have you been having lots of fun with that one?  Here is a run down of some of my wins this month:

  • 3 items form the Higgidy catch a Quiche Game
  • 2 bottles of Boost from their instant win game on Facebook
  • £25 from the Walkers Deep Ridged on-pack promotion
  • Some Munchin squirty bath buddy toys from the DKL blog
  • A year’s subscription to Stew magazine for 8-12 year olds from the Serenity You blog
  • A bundle of CBeebeies magazines from their Facebook Friday comp
  • 3 items from the Bee Happy, Happy Egg instant win game, as yet unknown what they will be until they arrive!
  • Some Warburtons fruit and orange thins from their Friday Freebie Twitter comp

My favourite prizes were definitely the magazine subscription and the bundle of magazines – something for both my children in the same prize category - that’s quite a rare thing for me!  Usually I squirrel prizes away anyway, but then it is difficult to bring out a prize for one child, if the other doesn’t have an equal one.  This month I was able to bring both out at the same time, and for both children to be equally happy – hurrah!

Anyway, enough about me, let’s see what everyone else has been winning this month!  Lots of us have had little wins from the Higgidy game this month, including shaunaaajb, Dragongirl1985 and Hesperus, lauralove broke her dry spell of about 6 months by winning a year’s subscription to Yours magazine, goatinaboat had a lovely twitter win of a family pass to Peppa Pig World, Xxme2uxx had some lovely wins this month including a Ralph Lauren Wimbledon Polo Shirt from Asda and a mattress topper from Marie Claire, frilly_tilly won a pair of tickets to the prestigious Whiskey Show worth £99 each, kslade beat the odds of 4, yes 4, entries in a local shopping centre comp to win a haircut and finish and laura44v  had a brilliant win courtesy of her dog Yodie, who was chosen as the UK’s naughtiest dog in the Direct Blinds chomp.  She scooped the top prize of £500 retail vouchers and £150 towards blinds, brilliant!

I think the honour of “competition none of us ever think we will win” prize goes to Lish2013 this month, who actually managed to win on the Biscuiteers game, Spin the Ginger!  She won a spotty, dotty gingerbread man – I have been playing this game for, it seems, forever so it is great to see people actually win on it, yay!   I think one of my favourite, impressive wins I read about this month must be densy winning the Argos Father’s Day Den competition – consisting of a shed, flat screen TV, recliner chair, rug, cushion, Kindle, Xbox 1 and dart board!  I love it when our members win really big, what a great haul, well done!

Let us all know how you get on with August’s comps by commenting below with your wins.  Don’t forget to upload a photo of your wins too for a chance to win a £50 voucher here

I look forward to hopefully being able to share more of my own wins next month, and to reading all about yours!  Happy comping everyone, lots of Lucky Dust to you all!

Kirsty x

I have had a good start with 2 books from Goodreads, one yesterday and another this morning. Great news for me as apart from comping I am a little bookworm!

Just returned from a 3 week jungle expedition with some of my students. Arrived back to find I'd won: a hooch t-shirt, a mug and coaster set, a few DVDS, a benefit serum and have been shortlisted in a recipe comp. Not too bad.

I've won the Spin the Ginger game in the past. The biscuit lasted about 3 seconds but it comes in a really cute little box that I've kept :) x

I entered the competition for a free healthcare consult, I had an email to say that I had won however I did not realise it was to become a mystery shopper.
I don't want to become a mystery shopper as it can be pricey as this one was so I turned this down.
I wanted to run it past others and ask
Is it right to run a competition to become a mystery shopper?
I thought this was an actual job of sorts, yes not a stable job but it is one?
