Share Your May Wins

Submitted by tpf_kirsty on Fri, 2016-04-29 13:23

Hello everyone!  How was your week, any nice wins to report?  Well here we are in May, and meant to be in deepest spring, although it has felt more like a very long winter here on the Island the last month!  I had tried to pack the girls’ winter coats and tights away several times, but I keep having to get them out!  Here’s hoping May is the start of some warmer weather for us all!  April wasn’t a great month for me prize-wise, as I have been very busy getting ready to move house, as well as working and school/family engagements.  I did manage to win five smallish prizes though, and here is a run down:

  • A Haribo tote-bag, from their instant win gam
  • A pint glass, from the Brakspear instant win game
  • A bundle of Dan & Phil foodies, for my daughter from Top of The Pops Magazine
  • A Ravensburger jigsaw, from Cuddles Magazine on Facebook
  • A Disney Junior DVD, from the Disney Junior Facebook party

As you can see I have had a few nice little wins, two of which were from instant win competitions.  Even if I am really pushed for time I always try and do at least the instant win comps, as well as any holiday or short break competitions as a bare minimum.  My daughter was thrilled when the Dan & Phil goodies turned up; as it was a surprise package we didn’t know we had won.

Enough about my wins in any case, let’s see what some of our lovely members have been winning during April

Kayaaaa has had another prolific winning month bagging herself such lovely prizes as a pair of tickets to Groove Festival in Malta, a Barbour beach bag, a digital watch, a Wonderbra, a pair of shoes and a bundle of stationery goodies to name but a few – phew, well done!  VillageFox had a slow start to her comping month, but made up for it by winning  a 3D Magic Dough kit, some Batman V Superman action figures, some kids’ DVD and a Project MK2 doll amongst other things!  Prince_huggy broke a dry spell by winning tickets to see Jeff Lynne’s ELO worth 95 each, and KSlade had some luck with the instant wins securing herself a football and tickets to see Olly Murs at an intimate gig.  Hamish666 managed to win a security camera from MyFamilyClub worth £130 and a cross stich pattern, and Falkor won a £25 clothing voucher and a blu-ray box set.  Pinkscatty had a lovely win from The Guardian of a weekend stay in London including rail travel, overnight stay and dinner at the new Turner Contemporary Art Centre, and paul408091 had a lovely win of some Scottish beef goodies, including an apron, chopping board and books.  Dig76 will be able to rest easy on the memory foam pillow they won from Ideal World on facebook, and sloopy123 will be cooking up a storm with the Pyrex dish they received from Colmans.

Without a doubt my favourite prize won by a member this month has to be the awesome trip to LA won by Jesterminnit!  This amazing prize won from Capital Radio includes four nights in a luxury 4-star hotel, a trip to the studios where Walking was filmed and $250 spending money too!  I love it when a member wins one of the big prizes that we all see advertised, as it reaffirms my faith that the promoters really do give these amazing experiences and holidays away to real people, and compers to boot!

A few members reported that they were currently going through lean spells, some since the start of the year.  I agree that 2016 hasn’t been a great comping year for me either, but I know people have been winning big prizes, just not me lol.  I think comping is becoming an ever more popular hobby and pastime, and more people than ever are joining in.  Don’t let that put you off though, be consistent with your comping efforts, spread your entries around between online, postal, creative, social media and local comps and focus on winning things that are most important to you first - don’t give up and carry on comping!

Let us know how you get on with May’s comps by commenting below with your wins.  Don’t forget to upload a photo of your wins too for a chance to win a £50 voucher here.

I look forward to hopefully being able to share more of my own wins next month, and to reading all about yours!

Happy comping everyone, and lots of Lucky dust to you all!

Kirsty x

I've finally had my first wins after comping for 4 months and nothing. Scooped £100 Tesco card in the Twitter Esso comp. A Repak bag, and a hair product from Battiste. Given me a spur to keep comping!

oops i forgot that i also won 2 tickets to a London show worth £40 but gave them away to a friend who lives in London as i couldnt make the date as train tickets were too expensive to make the trip worthwhile.

Had some good luck this week. Sunday morning I got an email to say I had won a new book I wanted, yesterday I found out I won the new Peter Rabbit dvd for my 2 year old and then this morning I won a hand drawn Game of Thrones A5 print for my partner. Going to buy a frame and this will be a birthday present for him in July. Am still hoping to win something bigger, would love to win a day out or something for my family, but still thrilled with these little wins.

I went on a fabulous holiday with my husband that I actually won last October, but took it at the beginning of May. It was a Black Tower wine win which was a three city tour in Germany, starting with a flight to Munich two nights in a luxury hotel, train to Frankfurt two nights then train to Munich two nights then flight home. We had six days of beautiful weather and superb sights. Also 1000 Euros to spend! While we were in Munich we met up by chance with a Canadian couple who were also on the same win.

May has been a quiet month on the prize front but I did manage to win a £10 Amazon voucher from the Comms Express FB page.

I belong to a Book Club and prizes like this are used to buy the next month's book which are the next month's meeting, will eventually end up in our local hospice charity shop, so benefits all round.

Over the years I have sporadically entered competitions and have had moderate success ... an iPod, signed Hellboy art book, £250 ASOS vouchers, necklaces, a case of 12 wines among other smaller things. After stumbling across this site and entering just the first few competitions listed I managed to blag a Hotpoint EcoTech Dishwasher worth about £300 ... after just one day!

Roll on June!

I have recently joined the site and have found it so easy to use.

On the last day of May I received an email to say I had won a 2 night weekend stay with breakfast and dinner on the first night at any Pig Hotel (which look beautiful). Also, as it was sponsored by Debenhams and Hush Puppy, I get to choose a pair of shoes each. Fantastic prize - thank you to those that add competitions.

I have to be honest i have had some lovely wins since the start of advent 2015 with a food processor to kick off and since have won a whole host of goodies every month. I really didn't do many rafflecopter comps at all because i find them so time consuming but one evening i was flicking through and saw a rafflecopter comp to win a sofa from Sofa.Com run by a lovely lady Amanda Cottingham on her blog. I saw that there were over 2,000 entrants but thought hey why not let's go for it! To my surprise a few days later i had an email to say i had won the Sofa.Com giveaway worth over a £1000! You really could have knocked me down with a feather! The sofa arrived to my convenience and the company were very efficient and lovely. It now takes pride of place in my dining room and i'm as proud as punch! Just goes to show you have to be in it to win it :)
