Get Lost in a Good Book (or 10!) - WIN £50 Amazon Voucher (CLOSED)

Hello again everyone!  Well we did it, we survived the summer holidays – woohoo!  Seriously, I did really enjoy having the children home for the summer, but by the end of August bickering between them was starting to set in, and the juggling required to manage working from home, running the house and the kids was getting to a level that a circus performer would struggle to keep up with!  My eldest went back to school last week (Year 4, big girl now), and my youngest starts in Reception class today – very exciting times!  How was your summer?  Are you, like me, secretly glad to have a bit of normality back, or would you happily have summer all year round?

The children will no doubt be very tired for the next few weeks, adjusting to life back at school.  This means we can have some nice quiet after-school sessions catching up on a few movies and some good books.  I might even be able to read some of the eBooks I have stored on the iPad for myself – I download them all the time, but never seem to get chance to read them!  How about you?  Do you have a favourite reading time or spot?  Do you like to read in the bath when you get some “me time”?  Are you a bed-reader?  Would a £50 Amazon voucher help to increase your library of hard-copy books or eBooks?  I thought it would!  Well, to celebrate Agatha Christie Week (14-21 September 2014) and Roald Dahl Day (13th September 2014) here at The Prizefinder we are offering our lovely members the opportunity to win £50 of Amazon vouchers, for you to spend on whatever you like, in our exclusive competition!  You could treat yourself to a whole book-shelf of books, or several MBs of eBooks, how about some eBooks or paperbacks for the children, maybe some Christmas stories to squirrel away – the choice is yours!  All you need to do to enter is comment on this blog and let me know what your favourite book of all time is!  For me it is a tough choice – I love old historical fiction and non-fiction like Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, Little House on the Prairie etc.  But I think my go-to book has to be Pride & Prejudice – must have read it 100 times, and it still feels like a comforting blanket and a bowl of homemade stew in book-form every time I read it.  Entries close at 23:59 on Sunday 14th September 2014, and you need to be a registered member and logged into your account to enter.  So, give it some thought, and drop me a comment below – I am looking forward to reading all your great book suggestions!

Happy comping everyone, lots of Lucky Dust to you all!

Kirsty x

First choice would probably be The Stand by Stephen King, closely followed by Flowers In The Attic by Virginia Andrews. Both very different but I've read them countless times.

I love Stephen King and Dean Koontz. It's a tough choice to choose a favourite book! But I always go back to The Gunslinger by Stephen King. The whole series is amazing actually. For those that haven't read it and may be put off by Stephen Kings horror genre. Rest assured, it's not horror at all. It's set in a fantasy world which is rather similar to us, the main character being the last gunslinger. Worlds cross etc, lots of twists and turns. It really will keep you on the edge of your seat! I'm a huge fan of Stephen King :)

My favourite book of all time is 'The Hobbit' by J. R. R. Tolkien.
I read it first aged around 10 & have read it at least 6 times since then.
I love reading about the adventures of Bilbo Baggins.

Best book I've ever read is the Time Travellers Wife. I love books & go through at least 1 a week & usually read crime thrillers such as Charlie Parker series by John Connoly or Harry Hole series by Jo Nesbo, but read this book on a whim & could not put it down & laughed & cried all the way through.

The book I can read over and over is John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. It is so well written and so moving, I get really involved in it every time.

Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson. Great author and this is a stand alone book which I always think on with fondness - just brilliantly written and very creative fantasy novel.

"Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is a master of what Tolkien called 'secondary creation,' the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own"

Such a tough choice. But I do love Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I love the journey she takes and it makes you feel like you're actually there with her.

I read for half an hour in bed before sleep. I always read biographies about famous people, especially rock and roll. It sends me to sleep with dreams of living a wild and carefree lifestyle, and is the perfect antidote for sweet dreams, away from the bad stuff on the news.

Start with Pillars of the earth by Ken Follet and this will open the path to a series of books which you keep you enthralled for many months

My favourite book of all time is a sci-fi book called 'Another End' by Vincent King. I read it in late 1976, while studying for exams and listening to 'Wings at the Speed of Sound' which has some very sci-fi sounding music which just fitted at the time and is a great album, except for the awful 'Cook of the House'.

Really difficult, as I have so many favourites. But I think I'll plump for The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley (a book I've read, and reread for years!)

It has to be The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher. I could read it over and over again. It has the feel good factor.

My favorite book is Flowers In The Attic by Virginia Andrews. I read it when i was a teenager, many moons ago lol and i usually read it again every couple of years, i passed it on to my daughter too and im sure she will tell her daughter about it in a few years. The book is such an emotional rollercoaster ride, and i always end up in tears lol
